Female entrepreneurs are more optimistic about their business prospects in the year ahead than their male counterparts.

The Sunday Mail in UK writes about a research that shows that only a fifth of male business owners feel confident about profit margins compared with nearly a third of female bosses.

In the article they also talk about the NatWest/RBS Small Business Monitor found that though women were nearly twice as likely to say they struggled with the burden of red tape, that did not appear to affect their performance of their business.

A third of both male and female-run companies reported an increase in turnover in the past 12 months, while 33% of Male-run firms saw sales fall compared with 25% of female-run businesses.

If women matched male start-up rates there would be 150.000 businesses with an average turnover of GBP 209.678.  This would boost the economy with a combined turnover of GBP 32 billion, according to figures form the Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.

The article also states that in UK alone there are 620.000 small businesses majority-owned by women generating GBP 130 billion turnover.
